Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1Rome - Portovenere – Genoa km.550

   Departure from Rome - free lunch along the way - in the afternoon walking tour in Portovenere with tour leader, a splendid UNESCO World Heritage site - in the evening check-in at the hotel in Genoa – dinner at the hotel – after dinner Genoa by night, walking tour with tour leader and public transport to Piazza De Ferrari and Piazza delle Erbe – overnight stay.

2. Day 2Genoa “a jewel nestled between sea and mountains”

   Breakfast at the hotel - full day dedicated to a guided tour of the city - historic centre and noble residences, the Strade Nuove with the UNESCO-listed Palazzi dei Rolli (panoramic tour, Via Garibaldi, Piazza Caricamento, Palazzo San Giorgio, Piazza Bianchi, Piazza San Matteo, Piazza De Ferrari, Porta Soprana, Christopher Columbus’s House, Palazzo Reale and Palazzo Spinola - internal visits -), Aquarium (self-guided visit) and the Old Port area, with the possibility of going up the Bigo (a panoramic lift 40 metres high with views over the city) – typical lunch in a restaurant - gelato tasting - free time for shopping - dinner at the hotel - after dinner Genoa by night, walking tour with tour leader in Nervi – overnight stay.

3. Day 3Cervo – Laigueglia – Varigotti “The most beautiful villages” km.250

   Breakfast at the hotel – full-day guided excursion along the Riviera di Ponente – visit to some of the most beautiful villages in Liguria – Cervo (a beautiful medieval village, home to a unique gem, the Clavesana Castle with its Ethnographic Museum, the Church of San Giovanni Battista, an expression of Ligurian Baroque, and a historic centre characterised by a maze of narrow lanes), Laigueglia (a seaside village whose wealth came from coral fishermen, Parish Church of San Matteo), Varigotti (the finest natural harbour on the western Riviera, with colourful houses and flat rooftop terraces that make the landscape unique) – typical lunch in a restaurant – during this excursion we will cross the brand-new San Giorgio Bridge in both directions - in the evening return to the hotel – dinner at the hotel - free evening - tour leader at guests’ disposal – overnight stay.
